I am a wife, a momma, an entrepreneur with my incredible movie-star handsome husband, a dreamer, and a free style rapper. Wait, whaa??
Actually, I'm terrible at rapping but I love to dance around, sing at the top of my lungs and be absolutely ridiculous. One of my FAVORITE things to do is try to make my husband laugh, which after almost 7 years of marriage is NOT easy. My 3 year old, Ben, on the other hand… he makes me believe I. Am. Hilarious. (For the record, I am.)
One of my main goals in life is to be "So ridiculously strong for my size that it doesn't make sense."
At the time that I first came up with that goal (in 2011), my only association to it was physical strength. At the time I was consumed by getting stronger, and stronger, and stronger, and stronger. I LOVED the idea of being insanely strong for my size. I loved performing feats of strength, and I LOVED the look of confusion and awe on the faces of bystanders.
That is still part of my goal today, but I have since realized that the idea of being "So ridiculously strong for my size that it doesn't make sense" weighs a lot more than my 255 pound Deadlift. :)
My pursuit of physical strength has turned into a lifelong pursuit of mental, emotional, spiritual and physical strength. I have realized that each one by itself is almost useless. It finally occurred to me that even if I have the best exercise program and nutrition plan to offer others, I cannot lead inspire others to get healthy and live life to the fullest if I am emotionally and mentally weak.
Strong, to me, is being vulnerable, teachable, humble and passionate. Strong is knowing when to be witty, silly and ridiculous, when to cry, when to laugh, when to lead from the front and when to follow. Strong is knowing who I am and being confident without arrogance. Strong is knowing that in this life I will never "arrive" and I can always be learning, growing and moving forwards…and being excited about it!
I believe in balance in life, and in eating pizza, cake and ice cream (my husband reminded me not to forget donuts). I believe that life was designed to be lived fully and richly, and that we can have WHATEVER we want in life, that we're willing to put in the work for. I love my husband, Jason (some day I'll tell you about the work I had to put in to get HIM!), and my sweet, hilarious 3 year old more than life itself. I am reminded what it means to be strong when I look at them.
The purpose of this site is share stories, laughs and tears as we journey together through life and our own unique pursuits of strength. I hope that you will find inspiration, motivation and encouragement to eat better, move more, grow and develop and become the best version of YOU that could ever possibly be. Although I am far from the idea definition of strong, I am just as much on this journey as you are, and I hope that you find inspiration and encouragement from my thoughts, ideas, and projects. I am passionate about sharing hope, inspiration, sometimes a little kick in the butt and let's face it… a little bit of fun.
