"The Process Project" is an idea that I had shortly after hearing feedback about a blog post I composed titled "The Process" that I had written for my Fitness Studio Blog site.
Apparently I wasn't the only one out there who was getting hung up on not being where I wanted to end up, and feeling constantly disappointed with where I was, not realizing that where I was, was exactly where I needed to be in order to get to where I needed to go.
…Get it?
You are where you are because you're not ready to be where you want to go…yet.
When I look back at my life, I can think of several things I am doing/creating/saying now that I would NOT have been doing/creating/saying a year ago. This past year was a PROCESS to bring me to where I am today. The same way that it was just that for you. Trust me when I say, I made a lot of bad choices last year-and I will no doubt make a lot of bad choices this year. But the goal is to make a few less bad choices than I did before, make a few more good choices, and I will be several steps closer to where I'm headed.
I think of what I've learned, who I've met and the changes I've made… and I am SO thankful for The Process! If I had received everything I wanted (goal body, goal weight, goal lifestyle, goal talents, goal -fill in the blank-) I wouldn't have learned A THING!
So, before you continue, and before I basically re-write my original blog post, make sure you fully understand what this is all about, read my blog post called The Process.

Ok, NOW I believe you. SO what does it mean to you, and how can you get involved? Here's how:
Decide right now which PROCESS(ES) you want to focus on right now. Pick 1-2 that you want to focus on, and write it down.
Once you have it written down, write down WHY you want to achieve that goal.
One more time, write down the WHY of the why.
Here's an example: You want to lose weight. Why? Because you want to feel better. Why? Because you have little self-confidence, don't smile as much, don't like to go out with your friends which all directly impacts your quality of life.
Well guess what? That is a LOT more effective then just "I want to lose weight." Make sure you know the WHY and the WHY of the why!
Now...
Commit to posting something EVERY DAY for at least 21 days on Instagram, Facebook, and/or Twitter with either a statement or a photo of YOU in the middle of your process and hashtag #TheProcessProject. I would LOVE it if you tagged me in it as well!

Maybe it's a picture of you waking up to your 5:00 am alarm to get to the gym, or read, or study. Or maybe it's a picture of you prepping your food for the week. Maybe it's a picture of you sitting at your computer sending out resumes to get your dream job. Maybe it's you studying, reading, and learning to improve yourself and become the person you want to be. Maybe it's an extra gesture you're making towards your spouse because you're determined to improve your marriage. Maybe it's putting the phone and TV remote down, getting off the couch and spending quality time with your kids.
On Day 1, make it CLEAR what you're doing. Remember we are trying to inspire people to come along with us. Say something like this: Day 1 (of 21) of #TheProcessProject. Today I am doing (fill in the blank here) to take steps towards my final goal of (fill in the blank here). Join me, @EmilyLongStrong and many others as we focus on THE PROCESS that is going to take us where we want to go!! #JoinTheMovement #TheProcessProject
Then commit to posting SOMETHING about what you are doing THAT DAY to head towards your final goal. You'll realize that it's much harder to stick to the small stuff on a day to day basis than you realized. Trust me, I know! I have fallen off the wagon and climbed back on sooo many times. The thing that changes that? Accountability.
We are ALL in a process. And the sooner we realize that, and make a point to suck EVERY ounce of growth and development out of it, we will soon arrive at our destination, and you know what we'll look back on with pride? Not just pride of achieving our goal- what we'll really admire is what we had to DO EVERY SINGLE DAY in order to make it happen. We'll admire the consistency, the lessons, the hardships that we got through. The persistence and determination. We will admire THE PROCESS.
Why should you do this?
Because in order to stay connected to the process you need accountability. You need a cheering section. You need support and encouragement, and unfortunately that doesn't always come from our closest friends and family. You need to PUT IT OUT THERE because keeping it to yourself isn't doing you, or anyone else for that matter, any favors. You must be accountable for your goals or you will never achieve them. You need to make a choice WHO you want to be, and BE IT! Because you DESERVE it. Your time is now. What are you waiting for?!

Where are you headed?! Every single small decision we make in a day, compounded over time, is part of our process that eventually determines our destination. Look at your life and decide if you can TOLERATE moving forwards in the direction you're moving, and if you can TOLERATE where that will land you 1, 3, 5 years from now. Whatever you are willing to tolerate is EXACTLY what you will get in life.
